Financing, and What It Actually Commits You To

Most phones are bought on device financing rather than outright, which spreads the cost across your monthly bill. The thing worth understanding before you sign is what happens if you leave partway through: you settle the remaining device balance. That is different from a cancellation penalty, and it means the phone is a balance rather than a lock-in. We will show you the full picture rather than only the monthly figure.

Trade-In: Bring the Old Phone With You

Your current phone almost certainly has value, including phones from other carriers and phones a few generations old. We value it in store, on the spot, and apply the credit to the new device the same visit — you do not post it away and wait. Back it up before you come in, and bring the charger if you have it. If the screen is cracked it is still usually worth something; bring it and find out rather than assuming it is not.

Buying Outright or Bringing Your Own

If you already have a phone you are happy with, bringing it to a plan is usually the cheapest route and we will say so. The requirement is that it is unlocked and compatible with the network. Bring the handset in and we will check it before you commit to anything — that check takes a minute and occasionally saves someone from buying a phone they did not need.

Setting Up Before You Leave the Store

Transferring a phone is where people lose an afternoon: photos, two-factor authentication apps, banking apps that need re-verifying, and eSIM activation. We do the transfer with you in store so you leave with a working phone rather than a box and a problem. Bring your old phone charged and know your Apple or Google account password — that is the one thing we cannot recover for you.
